Verida Missions

Here is a list of known issues and some tips on what you can do

Issue 1: I’m unable to connect or claim the GateKeeper adopter credential. Nothing happens when I click on the “Open in Polygon ID” button;

More info

  • The Verida Wallet supports scanning the QR code. Of course, it cannot be done if you use only one device.

  • Verida Wallet 0.4.0 (released 31/7) onwards supports Polygon ID deep links, reducing the need for 2 different devices. I.e. In GateKeeper, clicking the “Open in Polygon ID” button (below the QR code) will prompt users to open the Verida Wallet and display the Connection Request, Credential Offer or Proof Request screens straight away. Meaning you don’t need two different devices.

  • If you have the Polygon ID wallet or any other Polygon ID enabled wallet, you should be prompted to choose which one to use by iOS/Android (it’s a mechanic from the OS)

  • Be sure to update the Verida Wallet to the latest version, to benefit from the deep link support

What you should do

  • Install the latest version of Verida Wallet and try again

Issue 2: I claimed the GateKeeper credential with the Polygon ID wallet but it doesn’t appear in my Verida Wallet

More info

  • When claimed, a Verifiable Credential (VC) is sent and held by the user in their chosen self-custody “data wallet” such as the Verida Wallet. The VC is not stored on a blockchain or in a centralised server. They live locally in the wallet and are isolated from other wallets. (I can give more information about this interesting topic, as it touches the fundamental of the Self-Sovereign Identity)

  • If you have the Polygon ID wallet installed alongside the Verida Wallet, you may have mistakenly connected and claimed the credential unexpectedly into one or the other

What you should do

  • Make sure to select Verida Wallet to claim the credential

Issue 3: In the Connection Request screen, I’m unable to click on “Connect”, with a message saying “Polygon ID engine not ready yet”

More info

  • Unfortunately, with our current implementation of Polygon ID, the “engine” must be initialised every time the Verida Wallet is opened. It should not take more than 30 seconds to get ready. The screen will display this message until then.

  • We are still investigating the causes of problems during the initialisation of the feature.

What you should do

  • In the Verida Wallet, check in the Settings > Polygon ID > Circuits, if all the circuits are available. If some are not, this is among the reasons why the “engine” is not ready

    • The Polygon ID circuits are required to generate the Zero-Knowledge Proofs used by the protocol

    • The circuits will automatically download after installing and opening the Verida Wallet for the first time, and should take less than a minute with a good internet connection.

    • If you feel stuck with the circuits not downloading, try uninstalling and re-installing the Verida Wallet app. BACK UP your seed phrase first to recover your Identity.

  • If you’re still stuck with this message for longer than expected, a (currently unidentified) problem happened.

    • Try killing and re-opening the Wallet

    • Or try uninstalling and re-installing the app. BACK UP your seed phrase first to recover your Identity.

Issue 4: On the Connection Request screen, I clicked on “Connect” but it’s either stuck on “Connecting…” or I get an error

  • If you are seeing this screen and can click on “Connect”, the Polygon ID “engine” is operational and the previous issues mentioned no longer apply to you.

  • Note that this issue is impacting only a limited number of users and might be influenced by external factors, such as your internet connection. If you suspect that your internet connection might be playing a role in the problem, we suggest trying again later or using a different connection.

  • Our team is actively investigating this issue and working to gather more information to determine its cause and find a resolution.
